Having spent most of the last year hired to National Express East Anglia for working Norwich-Liverpool Street services, DB Schenker Class 90 No. 90036 finally managed to "escape" back to the West Coast. It is seen here at Stafford on 30th January 2009 waiting to proceed with the 1S25 Euston-Inverness Caledonian sleeper service. It had been halted to enable a London Midland Class 350 unit forming a Birmingham New Street-Liverpool Lime Street service to cross over onto the northbound fast line because the slow lines had been closed for overnight engineering work.
