Provided that the weather is reasonable, December is a busy time for heritage railways and perhaps none are busier than the Severn Valley Railway which runs almost 100 fully booked seasonal trains in the run up to Christmas. GWR 2-6-2T No. 5164 is seen approaching Bewdley Tunnel as it returns to Kidderminster on 10th december 2011. It is scheduled to haul another return trip later, its third of the day and another of the total of fourteen running at half hourly intervals. To provide this level of service, the SVR needs four eight or nine vehicle train sets and five steam locomotives plus a sixth used for carriage warming and as a standby.
