Colas Class 47/7 No. 47739 passes Rectory Junction in full sun while threatening skies loom over Nottingham in the background. 6E07 the 11.51 Washwood Heath - Boston Docks empty steel working is seen passing Rectory Junction box at 14:23 on Thursday 16th August 2012. The train is travelling on the Nottingham to Grantham line and the section of track from Netherfield Junction to here was once the western edge of Colwick yard. The two lines furthest right are the access to the oil terminal but previously these lines were two of those that headed from this point to Gedling and North through Mapperley tunnel, they bounded the East side of the massive Colwick Yard. Up until the mid 60's the space in-between the two pairs of lines was nothing but railway as far as the eye could see.
