The 'Mary Rose' railtour of 7th July 1984 (from Waterloo to Portsmouth and back to Victoria) brought the venerable Metropolitan Railway electric loco No. 12 'Sarah Siddons' to the main line in one of its most extraordinary workings ever. It was converted for third rail operation for the tour and was limited to 60mph. The train is seen here passing Ashtead on the down run, with six mk1s in tow.
