Stanier Class 8F 2-8-0 No. 48773 at Bolton on 20th April 1968. Built by the North British Locomotive Company in Glasgow as Works No. 24607, it was new to service in June 1940 as LMS No. 8233. As No. WD307, it was shipped to Persia in 1941 and saw service with the Iranian State Railway before eventually ending up in Suez Workshops in 1948. The loco came close to being scrapped but was returned to Britain and overhauled at Derby Works in 1952, before seeing service on the Longmoor Military Railway as No. WD500. It was purchased by British Railways in September 1957 and allocated to Polmadie MPD (66A). Its last Depot was Rose Grove and after final duties on 4th August 1968 it was purchased by the Stanier 8F Locomotive Society and is now based at the Severn Valley Railway.
