The original rail route into south Wales from London travelled via Gloucester and the location of this image, Chepstow until the opening to freight trains in 1885 and passenger trains in 1886 of the Severn Tunnel. Now a busy commuter and cross-country route the station here is well served by trains to Gloucester and the Midlands to the north and Newport and south Wales in the opposite direction, all under Arriva's stewardship (Arriva Trains Wales and Arriva Cross-Country). This shot shows the former company's Class 175 No. 175004 working the 14:45 Gloucester to Fishguard Harbour on 24th April 2014.
