Work has just commenced to eliminate the flat junction at Norton Bridge from the WCML to and from the ex NSR line to Stoke-on-Trent and Manchester. Before electrification the junction was at the North end of Norton Bridge Station but electrification saw it moved to its present position south of the station and the 2 loops on the NS line were eliminated as well as the Fast Lines on the WCML being realigned. All is set to change once more in the next 2 years. An Up Parcels train approaches the junction in early 1961 very unusually hauled by ex LNER Class B1 No. 61206 1961
