A view looking north at Great Bridgeford between Stafford and Norton Bridge. The Goods Yard is still in full operation and is being used by my then employer the Westinghouse Brake and Signal Co as a Depot for the resignalling of the WCML between Crewe Basford Hall and Milford&Brocton via Stafford. The photograph was taken from the Down Home signal gantry and shows the crossovers between the Slow and Fast lines which were eliminated on electrification. An unrecorded ex LMS Class 5 heads south on a Manchester -Birmingham express in the spring of 1961.
