Having just arrived at the recently opened station at Torpantau, now the highest railway station in Wales, Brecon Mountain Railways locomotive No. 2 is pictured getting ready to run around the 10:30 from Pant on 30th May 2014. This extension reopened on April 1st and has doubled the lines length including a 1 in 38 gradient which has meant the need for a powerful narrow gauge locomotive. This loco was built by Baldwins of Philidelphia USA in 1930 and spent its working life in South Africa before being brought to the BMR in the 1970s for rebuilding. A new museum housing several unusual narrow gauge steam locomotives was also opened by the BMR at the same time as the new extension at Pontsticill
