Sintra Tramway Car No. 4 departs Praia das Macas on 31st May 2014. The line runs for approximately 11 miles between the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sintra near Lisbon and the seaside resort of Praia das Macas on Portugal's Atlantic Coast. The line opened in 1904 and following a chequered history has operated a summer seasonal service on Friday, Saturday and Sunday only since 2012. The journey takes around 45 minutes following the main road for most of the way between the two towns, including some steep gradients and sharp bends. Car No. 4 was built in 1946.
