Class 56 No. 56059 is stabled in a very clean corner of Barrow Hill MPD on Saturday 7th June 1986 having recently been repainted in Railfreight grey livery. Built at BR Doncaster Works and entering service in May 1979 No. 56059 spent most of it's working life in the East Midlands area allocated to Toton depot. Passing on to EWS after privatisation she was withdrawn in November 2006 and prepared for service with Fertis Rail in France working on the new Paris to Strasbourg TGV East line then under construction. Returning to the UK after the line opened No. 56059 was stored out of use at Bescot TMD until removed by road on 13th July 2011 for transportation to T J Thomson of Stockton-on-Tees for disposal which took place during November 2011.
