Class 73/1 electro-diesel engine No. 73136 leads the 10:12 Bournemouth - Waterloo service into Woking on 26th September 1987. At this time, the 4-REP units were being withdrawn to enable the stripping out of their engines for reuse on the new Class 442 EMU due the next year. Push-pull 73/1 engines were helping to cover the gap.
