Freightliner Liveried Class 66/5 No. 66529 passes the Hellifield South Junction Signal Box and approaches Platform 2, working the light-engine 06:26 Leeds Balm Rd Loco (Fhh) to Carlisle N.Y. service on 11th August 2015. The 1911 Midland Type 4c Signal Box comprises 58 levers, is one of only two manual boxes left in operation between Leeds and Carnforth (the other being at Settle Junction) and acts as the 'fringe' box to the Leeds workstation of York IECC in the Skipton direction, as well as controlling the South Junction and a pair of goods loops.
