On an extremely wet 2nd April 2016, the ECML was closed between Doncaster & York due to engineering works, necessitating relevant services to be re-routed via Knottingley & Church Fenton, creating some unusual sightings. Here, Grand Central Trains Class 43/4 powercars Nos. 43484 'PETER FOX 1942 - 2011' and 43423 'VALENTA 1972 - 2010' (rear) provide the motive power for the 08:11 London King's Cross to Sunderland service as they pass Church Fenton.
