On an extremely wet 2nd April 2016, the ECML was closed between Doncaster & York due to engineering works, necessitating relevant services to be re-routed via Knottingley & Church Fenton, creating some unusual sightings. Here, Grand Central Class 43/4 HST No. 43423 'VALENTA 1972 - 2010' passes Church Fenton Station, heading the 12:18 Sunderland to London King's Cross service.
Its Classmate No. 43484 'PETER FOX 1942 - 2011' worked the rear of the train."
