For a few weeks in 2008, a shortage of HST rolling stock resulted in Grand Central hiring Virgin class 57s and stock to work its services north of York. On 1 9th June 2008 No. 57308 Tin Tin stands at Northallerton with a northbound York - Sunderland service. No. 57301 Scott Tracy was on the rear.
