Traction control is hard at work as Class 59/0 No. 59005 climbs steadily up the last few yards of 1 in 100 to Savernake Summit in the twilight with its 4,400 tonne load of stone well in hand on 14th February 2017. To the right of this Whatley Quarry to Dagenham Docks working the track bed of the erstwhile Marlborough branch diverges northwards while directly below the Kennet & Avon canal breasts the summit in the Bruce tunnel.
