LSWR Beattie 0298 Class 2-4-0WT No. 30585 arriving at Alresford Station during the Mid Hants Railways 2009 Spring Gala. Built in 1863 by Beyer Peacock and Company, the 85 members of the class were designed for suburban operations. By the 1890s they had been replaced by larger locomotives and the class would have become extinct had there not been a need for three of its members on the Wenford Bridge branch in Cornwall.
