Higher Poynton Station on the Macclesfield, Bollington & Marlpe Railway was closed in 1970, but the platforms were relaid when the Middlewood Way trail from Macclesfield to Marple was opened in 1985, and it is a credit to Cheshire East Council than over 30 years later the station remains an attractive and well kept picnic site, as seen on 26th June 2017.
