On the 6th July 2017 a Northern Ireland Railways Class 3000 3 car DMU No. 3005, built by CAF in Spain in 2004, is seen passing the somersault signal at Dhu Varren, near Portrush, Northern Ireland, while working a late running service from Portrush to Coleraine and Belfast. No. 3005, being one of the first six units, is fitted with CAWS and communication equipment compatible with the rail network in the Republic of Ireland. This enables this unit to be used as required on cross-border services.
