The Whatley Quarry to Hamworthy stone trains have run on average twice a week, since being re-introduced in January 2017 after a gap of nearly five years. On 2nd February 2018, Foster Yeoman Class 59/0 No. 59002 'Alan J.Day' is the locomotive in charge and is seen nearing the end of the branch, having discharged its load and preparing to run round, ready for the return journey. It is thought that this service will end in the Spring, meaning that this little used branch line will once again fall silent.
