The new bi-mode IEP units were seen regularly in 2017 on the Berks & Hants line as a convenient route for testing and driver training 'off the grid'. However since they have gone into service on the GW main line sightings here have been infrequent, and the best chance arises on a diversion day while electification work continues to Bristol. Such is the case on 4th February 2018 with a 2x5 car service from Weston-super-mare seen at Hungerford headed by Class 800 No. 800010 'Paddington Bear', appropriately as the B&H would have been Michael Bond's line to the capital. No. 800023 at the rear is still crossing the High St in town.
