Class 45 No. D40 passes Chee Tor near Millers Dale on 20th April 1968 with a London St. Pancras to Manchester Central service. The line North of Matlock was closed in June 1968, but this view can still be admired on the Monsall Dale cycle route. A short time after this photo was taken No. D40 was repainted into corporate BR blue livery as No. 40, and then became No. 45133, which has been preserved at the Midland Railway-Butterley.
