After an unexpectedly sharp frost which is yet to clear from Hungerford Common, there is an unexpected working of the Wellingborough to Whatley Quarry empties on 14th December 2018. Class 66/7 No. 66773 has an unaccustomed rake of wagons for this trip, indicating the STP nature of the decision to restock from the quarry so close to Christmas. The canal has yet to succumb to the low temperatures which are being enjoyed by the inevitable dog-walker. Two red light signals are in view - one at the start of the section by the overbridge and the other controlling the exit from goods loop in the far distance.
