Engineering work over the Easter weekend led to Northern Rail only offering a bus on the Windermere branch until local MP Tim Farron stepped in and negotiated with West Coast Rail and Network Rail to provide a train service on the branch on the and. Class 47s were provided to operate top and tail with three carriages. The first service on 20th April 2019, the 09.37 Oxenholme - Windermere was worked by WCRC Class 47 No. 47826, seen leaving Oxenholme station with classmate No. 47851 on the rear.
