LNER Gresley Class A3 Pacific No. 60103 'Flying Scotsman' passes Willington on 5th May 2019 with The Railway Touring Company charter 'The Great Britain XII:Day 9', the 10:04 from York to London Paddington. Unfortunately, this working was severely delayed due to multiple trespassing incidents South of Derby, and the normal 20 minutes journey from Willington to Tamworth took one and a half hours. At this location, normally only seeing the occasional dog walker, over 60 people were crammed onto the footbridge to see the famous locomotive.
