The third hired-in locomotive for the Transport-for-Wales Rhymney-line workings is Class 37/5 No. 37516, and is to be used in a thunderbird role. It made its first appearance on the training runs on 31st May 2019, but unfortunately made it only as far as Llanbradach, where it was failed with a broken coolant pipe, and the fire brigade were in attendance. Eventually, classmate No. 37421, on the rear, propelled the train to Ystrad Mynach, where it reversed and ran back to Cardiff Canton with haste. The ensemble is seen passing Heath High Level in the fading evening light.
