During the late 1980's eighty-six Class 319 dual-voltage EMUs were constructed to work between Bedford and Brighton under 25kV AC or DC operation. Thirty-one years later a number of these units are to be refurbished and reclassified as tri-mode Class 769 'Flex' units. Here at Didcot North junction 'ROG' Class 37/8 No. 37884 'Cepheus' is seen powering the 10:54 Reading Traincare Depot-Oxford Up Carriage Sidings hauling hauling one of the tri-mode Class 769 'Flex' units No. 769439. It is understood that the 'tri-mode' unit was to undertake trials in the Oxford area on 2nd August 2019.
