On the 21st August 1982, David Carter, the then chairman of The Deltic Preservation Society, and his wife Vera break the traditional bottle of champagne over the buffers of 55019 at Pickering station on the NYMR after working 'The Deltic Pioneer', the inaugural trip after handing over of Nos. 55009 & 55019 from BR to the DPS.
