Class 47 No. 47647 about to plunge into Rise Hill Tunnel shortly after departure from Dent working 08:42 Leeds-Carlisle on 2nd October 1987. With the S&C under threat of closure and thanks to Ron Cotton the service trains were very much expanded in length to cope with the demand!
