On 31st March 2021, Cross Country Class 221 No. 221139 passes South Wingfield on a service from Birmingham to Edinburgh. Recent tree clearance work by Network Rail has opened up views of the railway and of Wingfield station which is about to undergo a significant restoration project. The remains of a loading bay for the station are visible in the foreground.
