The Branch Line Society’s Summer Syphons four day railtour encountered problems throughout with late running and locomotive failures disrupting the schedule throughout. Day three was heavily disrupted when DRS Class 37s Nos. 37423 and 37422 were both declared failures at Earles Sidings and the tour had to be rescued by DB Class 66/0 No. 66044, arriving at back at York 100 minutes late. The following morning, 5th July 2021, day four The Zuzzy Syphons got off to a bad start when the two Class 37s, having been resurrected overnight were again declared a failure in York prior to departure. DB again came to the rescue with Class 66/0 Nos. 66066 Geoff Spencer and 66041 being hastily substituted and eventually departed York 84 minutes late. No. 66041 passes Rigton on the Leeds - Harrogate line with No. 66066 on the rear, having reduced the arrears to 76 minutes at this point.
