2306D is one of a fleet of 1970s locomotives rebuilt at Queensland Railways workshops in 1997-2002. Running on the 1066mm gauge they are used in freight duties throughout Queensland. Here two of the class are shunting a 40-car empty coal train through Yeerongpilly to head west form to the mines. The journey will take about four hours and climb from sea level to 690 metres.
