An East Midlands Trains Class 158 heads north out of Ely, and crosses the Station Road (A142) Bridge and Level Crossing with the 14:57 Norwich to Liverpool Lime Street service, on 30th October 2010. Considered contentious by some, the slip roads can only accommodate a few high-sided vehicles, before the main road itself then also becomes congested. This infrastructure is presently under review, particularly relevant given the proposed increase in rail-freight through the city.
