BR Standard Class 7P6F, No. 70000, 'Britannia', exerts all of its power to accelerate the 'Bath Spa Express' of on 3rd August 2011 from its starting point at Poole. This produces a very satisfying display of noise and smoke and, as the locomotive will shortly reach Branksome Bank, a stiff climb ahead, a good run-up is required. I could hear the increasing exhaust sound as the driver opened the regulator progressively wider, after rounding the tight curve at the station exit, and see thst the increasing exhaust flow pulling lots of dark smoke out of the firebox.
