0-4-0ST 'Whitehead' built by Peckett & Sons in 1908 (No. 1163) waits on the newly opened Big Pit branch at the Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway, as 'Sir Gomer', another Peckett (no. 1859) built in 1932, works up the main line towards Furnace Sidings. Both locomotives are former welsh colliery engines and were taking part in a photographic charter following the Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway's 'Industrial Steam of South Wales' Gala.
