BR Standard Class 7P Pacific No. 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' is pictured during a photographic stop at Chesterfield on 9th June 1968 while powering working 1Z74, a 'BR (LMR) Midland Railway Centenary Special Railtour'. The Britannia Class locomotive had taken over the special train at Derby from Peak diesel No. D138 during the outward journey, which had started from London St Pancras, taking the train forward to Manchester Victoria via Matlock and Chinley. The return from Manchester took in the Hope Valley and Erewash Valley lines to Nottingham where the steam locomotive was replaced by a 'Peak' diesel locomotive for the final leg of the journey to London. Incidentally the outward journey through Matlock and Chinley was the last steam operated passenger train over the soon to be closed section of that route between Matlock and Peak Forest.
