On 26th January 2013, overhead powerline problems in the Euxton area caused the diversion of some services between Preston and Crewe via Manchester. Virgin Super Voyager Class 221 No. 221107, seen here approaching Sandbach with the 10:17 Preston - Birmingham New Street, was one such service affected.
