Class 86 No. 86259 'Les Ross' with its pre-TOPS number of E3137 displayed on the leading cab side is pictured heading along the down relief line at Lichfield Trent Valley on Saturday 2nd March 2013 powering 1Z86, 07:06 London Euston to Carlisle - the Rail Touring Company's Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express. The immaculate heritage electric locomotive, restored to its former glory in blue livery and white cab roofs, was scheduled to work the train as far as Carnforth where steam haulage would take over for the remainder of the journey to Carlisle via Blackburn and the Settle to Carlisle railway before returning to Carnforth via Shap. The electric locomotive would replace the steam locomotive at Carnforth for the final leg of the excursion, returning to London Euston via the West Coast Main Line.
