During 2004/5, a number of Swiss private railway companies donated stock to the Antananarivo municipality as part of a project to reopen the line to Alarobia as a commuter railway (Train Urbain de Tananarive). The intention was to install diesel engines in the baggage compartments of the electric motor coaches. However, the project failed and most of the stock remains in store outside 'Tana' station. Pictured on 2nd December 2013, Forchbahn motor car Class BDe4/4 No. 13 heads a row of cars awaiting a decision on their future.
