Fifty years ago on 9th May 1964 LMS Stanier Pacific No. 46251 'City of Nottingham' was chosen to haul RCTS charter 'The East Midlander', seen here at the originating station of Nottingham Victoria, to the Rail Workshops of Eastleigh and Swindon. This was one of the final journeys behind this fine locomotive which, like most of the rest of the Class was withdrawn only a few weeks later.
