On 14th May 2014, Cross-Country 'Voyager' Class 221 No. 221123, moves out of the up-loop, west of Southampton Central, to Platform 2, where it will form the 13:46 service to Edinburgh. The train, which arrived from Newcastle at 13:17, has spent about twenty minutes waiting in the loop for its return journey north; during those twenty minutes, around ten trains have passed through the four platforms at this busy station. The first stop for this service - six minutes after departure from Southampton Central - will be Southampton Airport Parkway, where the aeroplane in the top, right-hand corner of this picture, is probably about to land.
