Ex-S&DJR Fowler designed 7F 2-8-0 No. 53809 stands awaiting its fate at Woodhams Bros, Barry on 13th July 1968. This engine was one of a batch 11 similar engines built exclusively for use on the Somerset and Dorset Railway and it spent most of its latter years allocated to Bath Green Park. Fortunately, the locomotive was rescued for preservation and can be seen at the Midland Railway, Buttlerley.
