Hampstead Tube Station is situated on the Edgware branch of the Northern Line. The station was opened on 22nd June 1907 and is the deepest on the Underground network at 192 feet below ground.It also boasts the deepest lift shaft on the underground at 181 feet operated by high speed lifts.There ia a spiral emergency staircase of 320 steps.The ground level entrance and booking office is depicted in this image taken on 31st July 2014. The beautiful original tiling along with the ticket windows and lights has been restored and despite modern touches evokes a bygone era worthy of a film set.
