The first appearance of Class 68 locomotives at Axminster, East Devon, occurred on 30th June 2016. Deputising for the unavailable New Measurement Train (NMT), Direct Rail Services Class 68s Nos. 68020 'Reliance' and 68004 'Rapid' 'top and tail' through Axminster 'wrong line' at speed, while working the 'Plain Line Pattern Recognition Train 2' from Old Oak Common to Salisbury, via Exeter New Yard.
