GB Railfreight Class 66/7 No. 66709 'Sorrento' passing Appleby on 4th July 2023 working the 2222 Tees Dock to New Biggin British Gypsum loaded gypsum service. GBRf have been hired in to operate this service (which hasn't ran since 3rd May) on behalf of DB Cargo who are currently struggling for drivers. In September, all rail services to the plant at Kirkby Thore are to come to an end to reduce British Gypsum's carbon footprint. Instead they will up production from the local mine deep under the Pennines.
