West Country class Pacific No. 34046 'Braunton' emerges from the 3 miles long Standedge tunnel and crosses the Huddersfield Narrow canal on 17th April 2024, heading a Saphos Trains' charter 'The White Rose' from Hereford to York. Steam traction was from Crewe via Warrington Bank Quay, Manchester Victoria, Guide Bridge and Stalybridge, these days an unusual route for steam haulage and a change from the planned route via the Hope Valley line and Sheffield.
