On Sunday 21 September 2008, Wrexham & Shrophire services were diverted via Crewe. The first up train, 1P50, the 10.03 from Ruabon, was uniquely composed of two trainsets as far as Crewe with two class 67 in the middle of six coaches and a 67 on each end. The ensemble is seen on arrival at Crewe before the train was split with this section going to the ETD and the rear section to London Paddington, another first for WSMR.
