Running over 30 minutes late, LMS Black 5 4-6-0 No. 44871 rounds the curve at Caddaford at the head of the 16:35 service from Buckfastleigh to Totnes on Sunday 4th April 2010 during the South devon Railway's Easter Gala Weekend. BR Standard Class 7 no 70013 was providing tail-end assistance for the five carriage train. As things turned out, the train did not reach its intended destination as the leading axle of No. 44871's tender partially derailed at Nappers Crossing to the south of Staverton, though fortunately without serious damage to either locomotive or track.
