Germany: The former DR station building at Gernrode. This was the terminus of the standard gauge branch from Quedlinburg, the line being taken over by the Harz Railway operators in 1993. In 2006 the metre gauge tracks were extended from Gernrode to Quedlinburg to form an extension to the Selke Valley Railway. The line appears to be less well known to enthusiasts and has a gradient of 1 in 25, steeper than the mountain line to the Brocken.
